FXcoin株式会社（本社：東京都港区、代表取締役社長：大西知生、以下：「当社」）は、2021年02月25日に住友商事株式会社（以下、「住友商事」）との間で、住友商事が海外(シンガポール)に送付するための暗号資産XRPの先日付取引を実施しました。前回の実証実験（2020年11月27日実施）では、国内におけるグループ事業会社間の決済に関連し、暗号資産を用いた先日付取引を行いました。
Ⅰ 住友商事は海外（シンガポール）に試験的にXRPを送付する。
Ⅱ 住友商事は当社との間でXRPの値動きをヘッジするために先日付取引を行い、特定の日付で当社からXRPを購入する。
２．本実証実験の意義
暗号資産は、その値動きの大きさから、今のところ投機対象の側面が強いと捉えられていますが、当社が提供するXRPの先日付取引は、事業会社におけるXRP建の債権債務に係る価格変動リスクのヘッジ手段となります。また、海外の事業会社との商取引において、暗号資産を用いた先日付取引ができることは、今後グローバルに展開する事業会社の活動において、決済コストの削減や決済スピードの改善、決済手段の多様化に繋がるものと期待されます。
３．実需取引拡大を目指して
前回行った実証実験では、本邦において初めて暗号資産を使った先日付取引の有用性及び将来性を示すことができましたが、今般行った実証実験では、その用途を国内事業会社と海外相手先との間の決済に関連した取引にも実際に活用できることを示すもので、暗号資産のSwap市場を広げていく上でさらに大きな可能性を有しているものと確信しております。
Demonstrative Experiment of Crypto-Asset XRP Trading Conducted in relation to Settlement with an Overseas Business Company
FXcoin Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Tomoo Onishi) conducted a forward-dated transaction of crypto-asset ,XRP, with Sumitomo Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “Sumitomo”) on February 25 ,2021 for Sumitomo to send overseas (Singapore).
In the previous demonstrative experiment (conducted on November 27,2020), forward-dated transaction using the crypto-asset ,XRP, was conducted in relation to the settlement with group operation company in Japan.
1.Outline of this demonstrative experiment is as written below:
Ⅰ Sumitomo sent XRP to Singapore on a trial basis.
Ⅱ Sumitomo purchased XRP from FXcoin on a specific forward date by conducting a forward-dated transaction with FXcoin in order to hedge the price movement of XRP.
2.Significance of this demonstrative experiment
Crypto-assets are currently considered to have a strong speculative aspect due to their high volatility, but the forward-dated transaction provided by FXcoin will work as a hedge of the price fluctuation risk associated with XRP-denominated receivables and payables of operation companies. In addition, the ability to conduct a forward-dated transactions using crypto-assets in commercial trades with overseas operating companies is expected to reduce settlement costs, improve settlement speed, and diversify settlement methods in the activities of operating companies for expanding globally in the future.
3.Aiming to expand transactions with actual demand
In the previous experiment, we were able to demonstrate the usefulness and future potential of the first forward-dated transaction using crypto asset in Japan. In the current experiment, we have shown that it can be used for transactions related to the settlement between domestic companies and overseas counterparties. We are very confident that it has even greater potential to expand the crypto asset swap market.
